游山玩水

trip这个词也许并不应该和“游”画等号，但它最常用的意思是“旅游”却毫无疑问。In the future ordinary people may be able to make trips to the moon．在未来，普通人也可能到月球上去旅行。my trip around the world意为“我的环球旅行”。a round trip表示交通工具的“往返票”，很有可能是为旅游者准备的。

但trip的意思远远比“旅游”广泛。假设有A、B两地(无论多远，即使只有10米远)，从A到B的过程，就可以称为trip。例如：I will be on a business trip tomorrow．明天我要去出公差。(我可没借着出差的机会四处游山玩水哦)She made a trip to the doctor's．她去看了一趟医生。(是去看病)the paper boy’s dai-ly trip指的是报童“每天送报”这个动作，和旅游也没有关系。乘坐交通工具所走的路程也叫做trip：I’The whole trip of bus route No.300 takes about one hour．300路公共汽车全程耗时约1小时。

trip要是作为动词用，就不是什么好意思了。它表示“绊倒”：The teacher tripped over the box on the floor and fell．老师被地板上的箱子绊了个跟头。还可以引申为“出差错”：Even the best student in the class tripped on that problem．全班学习最好的学生这道题都做错了。因此，又返回做名词的trip多了一层“错误的含义”：a trip of the tongue表示“失言”。

最后说说另外两个主要表示“旅游”的单词：voyage指的是“水上旅行”，如Robinson wenton a voyage to the east．罗宾逊乘船去东方旅行。journey通常表示在陆地上的旅行，How long is the journey to the coast?到海滨去旅行的路有多远?(肯定是走的陆路)著名的《西游记》也翻译成Journey to the West，因为师徒一行四人没往东海那边去。
